Rift Valley Solar IPP — Scaling Clean Power at the East African Grid
Crestmont Energy originated, structured, and reached financial close on a 50MW utility-scale solar project in Kenya’s Rift Valley — one of the largest private-sector renewable energy transactions in East Africa in 2023.
The deal combined IFC senior debt, a KfW concessional facility, and a commercial equity co-investment arranged by Crestmont, under a 20-year PPA with Kenya Power. The project is now operational and displacing over 85,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
